COLUMBIA BUSINESS SCHOOL

By Diller Scofidio Renfro

DS+R and FXCollaborative completed a pair of buildings for the prestigious Columbia Business School at the university’s Manhattanville campus. Amber was part of the interior architecture team, focusing on the design and detailing of lecture halls, seminar classrooms, and faculty spaces.

As stated by DS+R, the campus was designed to create “multifunctional spaces that foster a sense of community—spaces where students, faculty, alumni, and practitioners can gather to exchange ideas.” The buildings feature an alternating arrangement of classroom floors and faculty floors, interconnected by a dynamic circulation route that is also interconnected to lounges, seminar spaces, breakout areas, study carrels, and informal gathering spaces, fostering collaboration and engagement.
